I'm unsure what my first offical B-movie was. It was either "Troll" or "Dawn of The Dead". But I knew when I saw Dawn of the Dead as a kid, it was an awesome zombie movie. It's such a great idea. Have a handful of survivors, put them in a mall, throw in some zombies, add bikers for taste and viola! Instant classic.
Let me tell you, if I hadn't watched this after "Wolfen", I think I'd be crying in my beer right now.
This takes place sometime after "Night of The Living Dead" and we meet Francine, who works in a TV Station. Everyone in the station is at each other throats because people can't agree what to do with themselves. Thankfully Fran's boyfriend Steve stole (I guess) a helicopter and they're gonna get the hell out of there.
Meanwhile Peter and Roger are with a team of army who is going to every residence and telling the normal people that they must get out, and killing zombies. There's a racist guy among the army guys, but he gets shot by Roger.
When they find a basement full of zombies, both Roger and Peter decide to give up and tag along with Fran and Steven. They get to the helicopter and take off, watching as rednecks kill zombies. Yay! A new redneck sport is invented! Pretty soon: NASCAR...ZOMBIE STYLE!!
I won't bore you with the inbetween scenes. Just them stopping to refill once in awhile and shooting zombies. Soon enough they find a mall and they decide to stay in there cause it's got everything. Clothes, food, shelter. But there's still a bunch of zombies running around. Even some on escalators. That's just funny.
They take residence in some upstairs office's and they clean out the zombies in the mall and make sure no more get in. Sadly, during the cleaning, Roger got bitten and he became a zombie. That kinda sucked but oh well. After that, they live has a married couple and a roommate.
Some time later, when Fran is starting to show and the office space is now a living room, some bikers find them out and decide to take over for themselves.
Well, needless to say, all hell breaks loose. The bikers loot the mall, Steve and Peter try to kill the bikers, the zombies come in and start eating the bikers. Realizing there's no way to stop the zombies now, Peter tells Fran we should get the hell out of here. They wait for Steven but he got eaten and turned into a zombie. And he stupidly leads them to the living room/office. Peter and Fran get in the chopper and take off, just flying around forever. I bet delievery of the kid was fun for Peter. But at least he can get some now. |
